High end Lipgloss, Drugstore dupes.....

I love a good dupes post.

The other week I decided that I was going to have a look through my Make up collection and see what dupes I could find for high end products from the drugstore.

I love high end products but my purse isn't too keen, lol.

I was really surprised how many I found, I have got together Lip glosses, Lip sticks and blushes to share with you.

This first post is Lip gloss.

Above are the swatches that I featured in my Video which you can watch below....

The dupes I found, Top row first from left to right are.....

Revlon Sizzle dupe of  MAC Morange
MUA Out There Plumping Gloss in Candy Pink dupe of MAC Viva Gaga 1
Natural Collection Cherry Pop dupe of Lancome Lychee Juicy Tube
MUA Out There Plumping Gloss in Pin up Pink dupe of MAC Impassioned
Borjois Rose Symphonic dupe of MAC Like Venus

You can see more of my thoughts on the glosses in the video.

All in all though I am really pleased with the dupes that I found.

Lancome Hypnose Doll Eyes, a review.................

One of my all time favourite Mascars is Hypnose by Lancome. I have used I don't know how many tubes of it over the years. Until about 18months ago it was all I would use. It was about this time that I started flirting with other Mascaras and brands.

Last year at one of the promotion days in Debenhams I picked up a box set of two mascaras from Lancome. One was my beloved Hypnose and the 2nd was the Hypnose Doll Eyes.

Until a few weeks ago, they have been sitting sealed in the box as I have been working my way through others.

I have been using the Doll Eyes for a few weeks now and I have to admit that I am a little on the fence about it.

The main difference with this and the original Hypnose is the brush, Its a long cone brush designed to give the most definition to your outer lashes and the 'Doll' apperance. As brushes go, its OK, not my favourite but no where near the worse I have tried.

The main reason that I am on the fence is the formula. It is builadble which I like from a mascara and leaves my lashes feeling a little flexible which I also like. My main issue is that I have been getting terrible transfer and smudging with it.
This is something that I never have had with the original and so I am feeling a little disapointed with this mascara as a whole.
At just over £20 I dont really expect a mascara to transfer.

So for now my heart still belongs to Hypnose.

Hqave you tried Doll Eyes? What did you think?

My Valentines FOTD..................

I wanted to do a FOTD post for Valentines as it has been a while since my last one.
I tweeted and asked what you would like to see, One of the requests made by Laura was for a classic red lip.

So here we are...

I wanted to pair the classic red lip with black liner, nude shadow and mega lashes.
I have been having skin woes lately so I aimed to get as much of a flawless complexion as possible to complete the look.

What I used

FACE

New CiD i-Prime
Revlon Colour Stay Foundation
Garnier Tinted Roll On
Chanel Silky Bronzing Powder in 22 Sierra
MAC Blush in Margin
MAC MSF in Soft 7 Gentle

EYES

Lancome Eyebrow definer in Brun
Soap&Glory Lid Stuff Whats Nude
Loreal Super Liner
Rimmel Lash Excellerator Mascara

LIPS

Revlon Colourstay Lip liner in Rose
Sleek Pout Paint in Pin Up
Jemma Kidd Gloss

I love how this has turned out, the red is my favourite and what better way to pucker up than with a classic red lip.

Hope you all had an amazing Valentines...

Mascara Disappointment :(.......................

Its not often that I post about being disappointed with products. I have found what I like and for the most part I stick to items I love, just trying different brands, colours etc.
For example, I'm NOT a cream shadow fan, apart from Paint Pots by MAC so I tend to just steer away from cream shadows.

This is why my disappointment with the product is such a surprise to me.
My favourite Premium brand Mascara is Hypnose by Lancome and I have also been a fan of their others too.
So when I decided it was time for a new Mascara (this is about 6 months ago now) I visited my local Lancome Counter and had a look at their then new Oscillation Vibrating Power Mascara.

This Mascara has a small button in the lid that causes the wand to vibrate applying product all the way from root to tip, all the way around the lashes. The vibration its self isn't as strange as I though it would be and didn't tickle either. So far so good, or so I thought.
My big grip with this mascara is that it really didn't give me extra length as promised, it did separate my lashes but gave the dreaded spiders legs look to them.
Worst yet it transferred.

I have had this sat in my makeup bag for the longest time ( Naughty I know) but I just wanted to love it and after paying £31.00 I wanted to get some use out of it. Unfortunately every time I did use it I hated it a little bit more.

Have you tried this product? What did you think???

Beyonce Countdown Video Inspired makeup.................

Its been a little while since I did a make up look or FOTD ( blame the bad light in the mornings!!!)
So I decided to change all that today with a celeb inspired makeup look.

I have decided to go for Beyonce in her latest Video Countdown as I caught it this morning on MTV and loved it.
The Video is almost quite 80's but has lots of winged black liner with minimal shadow and natural lips.
I googled for some photos and this is my favourite and my inspiration...

As you can see in this picture, there is a lovely inner eye highlight and a beautiful winged liner. Beyonce also has a quite strong brow. All this is paired with a natural lip and soft rosy cheek.

Here is my attempt, I dont have a fringe, but I tried to kind of create one for you, lol.

I'm quite pleased with how this turned out, looking back I think I should of winged the liner out more, oh well, too late now, lol.

Here are the products I used..

FACE

Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum
ELF HD Powder
Essence Bronzer
Collection 2000 Shimmershades
MAC MSF SemiPrecious Pearl

EYES

HD Brow Palette
Brow Gel
Garnier Eye RollOn
Elf Shadow Primer
Sleek Motlen Metal ( Gold Leaf)
Bourjois Little Round Pot shadow in 63
Bourjois Intense Little Round Pot No1
BarryM Waterproof pencil
Estee Lauder Double Wear Gel Liner
Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara

LIPS

Revlon Just Bitten in Passion
Soap&Glory Extreme Plump

Yes, I really should of extended the winged liner out further, dont you think.
I really like the effect the Molten metal gives to the tear ducts, so pretty. I will have to use this for my inner eye highlight more often.

What do you think of the stronger brows on me?? I kind of like but at the same time find it a little odd looking on me, lol.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this, please let me know what you think....

My Summer top 5 lip products 2011.......

Like everyone i chop and change my the lip products i use, however at certain times of the year i do find myself reaching for particular products more than others.

Having done my top 10 summer nail polishes, i have decided to do the same for lip products. I have kept it to 5 tho as i tend to have my definite favourites.

L To R
Elizabeth Arden Eight hour lip protector (£16.00)
Me Me Me Long lasting lip creme in Elektra (£8.50)
Mac Lipstick in Costa Chic (£13.50)
Lancome juicy Tubes in Lychee and Chilled (£14.00 each)

You can see that the 8 hour is a clear balm. The reason i love this in the summer ( and winter actually) is because its so moisturising and keeps my lips soft and smooth. The 8 hour lip protector is my favourite lip balm i think, i love the smell, you either love it or hate it....

Electra is just a fab bright pink for summer, these lipsticks are moisturising and smooth giving a long lasting colour.

Costa Chic is my go to summer coral, I love how bright it is, one of my favourite Mac lipsticks.

Then we have the famous Juicy tubes. Lychee is a pretty, sparkly, girlie blue base pink. I have worn this colour for years, its my fail safe that i turn to when i don't know what to do. It always looks good and gives a fresh appearance to the face.

Lastly we have Chilled, a creamy nude. A really natural lip gloss that gives that, my lips but better look. Also looks good layered over lipstick :))

What are your favourite lip products for summer??
Id love to see...
