Snow day Drugstore, beauty haul.......

If you follow me on instagram, then over the last couple of weeks you will of seen a few of the bits and pieces that I have picked up lately.

I decided to film a haul for you as yesterday after work, I popped into boots, looking for just ONE item after watching Estee from Essie Button and her mammoth Boots haul on Sunday.

It didn't go well is all I will say.......

I got a bit carried away, I admit.

Hope you enjoy my moments of naughtiness lol.

Bourjois Contour Clubbing Waterproof Eyeliners...........

A product that I have been loving for the last couple of months now are the Waterproof Contour Clubbing Eyeliners from Bourjois.

These super soft creamy liners are crease resistant and super pigmented. They last all day in the waterline and on the lash line.

Black Party and Bleu Neon

I started off with the shade Bleu Neon, which is a beautiful green with a lovely shimmer that really makes the eyes look bright. After being super impresses with it, I decided to take the plunge and pick up the black.

I wasn't disappointed.

These are without a doubt my favorite drugstore eye liners. Unlike other so called waterproof liners I have tried in the past they really are waterproof, smudge proof and budge proof.
If you are on the look out for a good value, quality liner this may be one for you.

They are £4.99 and available from Boots and Superdrug.

February Favorites 2013 and a fail................

How excited am I that Spring is on the way!!!
I really am pleased that its time for February Favorites as it means that Spring is nearly here.

I have had a complete skin care over haul this month, although I was seeing some improvements, it wasn't enough, so I got some advice and have started using Avene.

As well as lots of favorites, I do have one fail this month, maybe its something you can help me with?

Bourjois 1,2,3 Perfect.............

As those of you that have been reading my blog for a while will know, I have had varying luck with drug store foundations over the last year.
Bourjois are the makes of both my favourite ( Healthy Mix) and least favourite ( Healthy Mix Serum) drug store foundation discoveries of the year. So when I saw that Boots had an exclusive Bourjois hitting there shelves last month, I knew I had to give it a go.

This is 1,2,3 Perfect Foundation

If you are familiar with Bourjois foundations, one of the first things that you will notice is the upgrade to the packaging. Gone is the usual plastic bottle and in is the classy, expensive feeling. The plastic pump feels average, all in all tho, the packaging looks and feels great.

There are only five shades in the range, the darkest being my shade 56, Beige Rose.
The shades in these foundations come up a bit lighter, I would go so far as to say a couple of shades at least.
I am not sure if this is because of the 3 colour correcting pigments in the foundation, but I do know that this is going to limit the appeal of the foundation, no matter how fabulous it may be. With even a hint of colour this is going to become far to light for me. I would say that if you are anything over a NW30 ish that you may struggle.
The Bourjois web site does say that there are 9 shades available, I'm guessing that these extra shades will be released shortly.

That being said, I have been using this foundation and enjoying it. It offers a lovely cover, I would say medium to full. It leaves a satin finish on the skin. What makes this foundation different from say Healthy Mix is the 3 colour correcting pigments that are in the formula, Yellow, Mauve and Green.

Yellow promises to conceal dark circles and give a rested look to the skin.
Mauve is to correct dullness and give a radiant appearance.
Green neutralises any redness in the skin and helps to even out the complexion.

Added to all this there is the promise of long wear (16hrs), SPF (10) and 24hr hydration.
Sounds good doesn't it??

It is!!

I'm pleased to say that I really do like this foundation, it leaves my skin feeling and looking fresh whilst offering me cover and help in those aggravating areas such as any blemishes that may of left those horrid red tell tale marks.
Even with the limited shade range, I think that this is definitely worth checking out if you are on the look out for a new drug store foundation.

Bourjois, you have made me smile once again :))

1,2,3 Perfect is available from branches of Boots and on line. It normally costs £10.99 but at the moment has £4.00 off so is just £6.99.

I would love to hear what you think of this foundation.....

Some recent fails :((.....................

I don't usually have that many products that I end up really disliking, today tho I have two definite fails.
I would like to point out tho, that just because these products are not for me, some of you may love them.

First up is the eye studio eye shadows from Maybelline. I have just one of these in the purple shade.
You get a 2nd colour in these compacts that is a translucent powder with some sparkle through. Right up my street you would think? Unfortunately not. The purple is not that greatly pigmented, its not the worst I've used but comes a long, long way short of what I look for in an eyeshadow. The translucent powder has terrible fall out and when applied in all honesty looks no different to me at all as the glitter seems to end up pretty much anywhere than on my eye.

As I said it may just be me, but this for me is a total fail.
Next up Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum.

I am a massive fan of the original version of this foundation, Healthy Mix. And when I saw this I had to try it out. This in comparison to the original has a more a serum texture, Bourjois say gel. It is also packed with more of the fab antioxidants that are crammed into the original formula, sounds good so far doesn't it?!?!?

Well I can honestly say that this for me is the worst foundation I've ever tried. It literally for me did nothing. I think that I personally get better results with tinted moisturiser. I don't know why but as soon as it hit my skin it seemed to vanish to nothing. I tried it with and without a primer, with and without powder, I really tried everything as I really wanted to like it.

Sadly for me, nothing could make me like this foundation :((

Thank you for reading my post.
Have you had any products that you have been let down by???

More empties, Yayyyyyyyyyyyyy...........

So you may remember my self inflicted spending ban back in October.
Although I didn't stick to my 6 items that i had allowed myself to buy before new year, I really did cut back and use lots of my collection which may of been neglected otherwise.

I did a post back at the start of November sharing with you some of the things I had used up and emptied. ( you can see that post HERE )

This was something that I had really got satisfaction from, and so I decided to do it again.
So here we are these are my empties from November and December.

What Ive used
TRESeme Instant Refresh Dry Shampoo
Batiste Blush Dry Shampoo
Umberto Gianni Backcomb in a Bottle
Umberto Gianni Crystal Mist
Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation ( Not 100% empty but the pump is broken)
Clinique Clarifying Lotion
Midnight Poison Body Lotion
Angel Body Lotion
Simple Eye Makeup remover
Soap&Glory Hand Maid
Carex Hand gel
Soap&Glory Catch A wrinkle
Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir
Philosophy Pure Grace
Burbury Body ( sample 15ml)
MAC Msf Natural
Clinique Eye Brow Pencil
OPI Nail Envy Original
NYC High Definition Mascara

Some of these are items that I will without doubt repurchase either because they are every day products for me ( clarifying Lotion, Eye make up remover, Dry shampoo) or I have really enjoyed them.
There are a few tho that I wont repurchase.
These are
NYC Hi Definition Mascara. The transfer on this is terrible, I also found that it flaked on me through the day. Added to this I simply just did not like the brush.
The other is the Umberto Gianni Crystal Mist, as much as I enjoyed this product, I'm planning on going a little lighter with the blond in my hair and if I do this will simply make my hair just too golden.

What have you finished recently? Will you be repurchasing or skipping??

Can a lipgloss brighten your smile???.........

I'm sure you will all of seen these Smile Enhancing glosses by Bourjois recently. I got this one about a month ago and have been seeing what I think.

The gloss has two ends, one with a traditional gloss, all be it a sparkly one lol, and the other end has a teeth whitening gel.
The gel has particles that are meant to make your teeth appear whiter and your smile in turn brighter.

the colour I chose was a very pale pink, ideal for layering over lipsticks. As you can see from the swatch it has very little colour. The full range does have more intense colours there are 6 available in total, this was just the one I was draw to.

Now as I said I got this about a month ago, in that time I have worn the gloss several times, applying the gel to my teeth.

Here are some before and afters....
Please excuse the scary smile!!! lol

Without

With

Now in all honesty I can not see any difference with my teeth. I do however really like the gloss. Its not at all sticky which is fab, but does mean that you will need to reapply more often than with some glosses.

I think if you are buying this gloss because you like the colour that's fab, also the teeth gel does refresh your mouth with minty freshness so is quite cute. I just dont think the brightening agents give enough of a difference to actually give a whiter smile....

At £8.99 they are on the slightly more pricey side for a drugstore gloss too.

Have you try the Smile Enhancing Lipgloss by Bourjois??

What did you think??

ELF Natural Palette Look..........

I recently reviewed the ELF Natural Eye Palette. I decided yesterday that as I wasn't doing much ( Still home poorly :( On the mend tho) I would have a little play around and come up with a look to share with you.

Here are the products I used...

Although I wanted a very natural look, Illness has taken its toll and I needed a Lil bit of extra help with my skin. Hench all the face products.
  • 17 Photo Flawless Face Primer
  • MAC MSF Natural in Medium Deep
  • ELF Studio Stipple Brush
  • ELF All Over Colour Stick in Spotlight
  • Rimmel Sun Shimmer Bronzer in Light Matte
  • Hard Candy Living Doll Baked Blush
  • Garnier Eye Roll on in Medium
  • Revlon PhotoFinish Foundation In 007 Cool Beige

  • ELF Eyelid Primer
  • Rimmel Eyebrow Pencil in Dark Brown
  • Shavata Clear Brow Gel
  • Collection 2000 XXL Volume Sensation Mascara
  • ELF Natural Eye Palette

( I am going to refer to the colours like this top row A, B, C, Bottom Row, D, E, F)

I used B On my lid with D as my inner eye and brow highlight. I then blended E over the middle of my mobile lid to warm it up. I put C in my socket and ran F along my upper lash line to Tight line my lashes.

As you can see all the colours are very very natural on me. I'm not sure if this is just down to my skin tone or the shadows. I like the Dark dark brown, this is a colour I will use a lot I can tell already. I think the rest of the colours ( Except C) I will use just for highlight.

To finish the look I used

  • Urban Decay Lip Liner in Midnight Cowboy
  • Bourjois 3D effect Gloss in 49
  • Lancome Lip liner in Rose Rosa
I used Midnight Cowboy around the edge of my lip line for fullness and Rose Rosa to fill my lip.
I then used the gloss over the two to finish the look.

Final Face

Please excuse my round face, it always gets puffy when I get colds and chest infections.

Have you tried the Natural Palette by ELF, What do you think???
