Mascara Disappointment :(.......................

Its not often that I post about being disappointed with products. I have found what I like and for the most part I stick to items I love, just trying different brands, colours etc.
For example, I'm NOT a cream shadow fan, apart from Paint Pots by MAC so I tend to just steer away from cream shadows.

This is why my disappointment with the product is such a surprise to me.
My favourite Premium brand Mascara is Hypnose by Lancome and I have also been a fan of their others too.
So when I decided it was time for a new Mascara (this is about 6 months ago now) I visited my local Lancome Counter and had a look at their then new Oscillation Vibrating Power Mascara.

This Mascara has a small button in the lid that causes the wand to vibrate applying product all the way from root to tip, all the way around the lashes. The vibration its self isn't as strange as I though it would be and didn't tickle either. So far so good, or so I thought.

My big grip with this mascara is that it really didn't give me extra length as promised, it did separate my lashes but gave the dreaded spiders legs look to them.

Worst yet it transferred. 

I have had this sat in my makeup bag for the longest time ( Naughty I know) but I just wanted to love it and after paying £31.00 I wanted to get some use out of it. Unfortunately every time I did use it I hated it a little bit more.

Is it a Dupe, nearly but not quite..................

I posted last week about the fab GOSH Light'N'Shine lip gloss.
It occurred to me that Shade 04 may be a dupe for my much loved Like Venus Dazzleglass by MAC.

As you can see in the tube they look very similar.

As you can see from the swatches tho, there is more of a difference than you would think.

Like Venus is much more of a sheer formula with more sparkle and slightly less colour.

Shade 04 is more milky and adds a tiny bit more colour to the lips.

They are both lovely and sparkly, but I think that Like Venus has the edge.

I love to layer Like Venus over lipstick, it adds a lovely shine to the lips.

Which of these do you like the best? Or are you like me, a fan of them both??

Lush Vitamin Tabs..................

I have really been suffering with my skin at the moment. All this cold weather and central heating are drying my usually combination skin out like you wouldn't believe.

I remembered that I had these LUSH Vitamin tabs that I had bought before Christmas in my bathroom cabinet and thought Id give them a go.

I had two, the Vit E and Vit C tablets.

The Vit E Steamer Tab is designed to be moisturising whilst the Vit C is to brighten and energise.

The Steamer Tabs are packed full of essential oils and vitamins. The steam delivers all the goodness into your skin.

I decided that I wanted to use the steamer tabs together for a double wammy.

You simply drop them into a bowl of hot water and watch them fizz away, almost like mini bath ballistics!!!

The fragrance that hit me was amazing. I steamed my face with a towel over my head for about 10 minutes. I found it really relaxing which I must admit I found surprising.

When I had finished I gently patted dry my skin and applied my usual moisturiser. I found that because my pores and skin was so fresh and open that my moisturiser glided over my skin and absorbed pretty instantly.

The Vitamin Steamer Tabs have definitely helped my skin and are something I will definitely do again.

They cost just 0.75p each from LUSH and feel like a much more expensive treat.

Nicki Minaj For OPI Fly NOTD..............

I felt this cold weather called for something a little cheerful on my Nails. 

So for today's NOTD  post we have Fly with a Bling finger nail in Save Me both by OPI from the Nicki Minaj collection.

I really like this colour. Fly is a beautiful bright turquoise blue that makes me long for the summer. The formula is smooth an applies beautifully. The above photos are with 2 coats, you can still see my natural nail line but I think that 3 coats would remedy this. 

You can see the beautiful bar glitter in Save Me. As I said this was an impulse buy for me, so far its been a good purchase. Its just pure fun in a bottle.

A Random act of kindness and compassion..............

I wouldn't normally do this, but today I just have to. I know that those of you who read my blog expect all things beauty but I had to share with you this random act of pure kindness and compassion that I witnessed this morning.

Its 4 below as I write this at work. The car took forever to deice. Now where I live and work is a nice area, I'm lucky. Like everywhere there are places a bit less desirable but all in all its a lovely place to live. We are by the seaside and the Downs and have beauty all around us.

I think that's why we forget.

Forget that there are people less fortunate than ourselves.

Next to where I work is a small open gated garage, space for one car. It belongs to our neighbours and goes unused most of the year.  Today my heart broke.

Snuggled in sleeping bags and blankets there are 3 homeless people and there beloved dog, trying to keep warm and get some sleep. As Richard dropped me off I caught a glimpse and said to him 'Omg, its so cold, what can I do??' As I muttered these words the lady from the next shop along emerged from the back door with a tray of tea, coffee, milk and biscuits.

Thank god we have people in this world like her. Something so simple as a cup of tea will make their day better. It wont give them a roof over their heads but it may just make things better for a few short minutes. I'm am a bit weepy as I write this, that simple act of kindness has made my day different, made me stop and think.

Think how no matter what everyone belongs to someone, homelessness can happen to anyone, bad luck is bad luck and can happen to any of us.

So if on your travels today you see someone less lucky than the majority of us, realise how lucky we all are. Spare them a smile of kindness, make someones day better.

OPI Nail Polish haul.................

I picked up a few new OPI's the other day and thought you may like to see them.

This Little Piggy, I Eat Mainly Lobster and A Oui Bit Of Red

I thought This Little Piggy was just so pretty, cant wait to do a nail of the day with this one, think its going to look fab layered.

I Eat Mainly Lobster is a beautiful coral with micro shimmer, the perfect summer polish me thinks.

A Oui Bit Of Red is a back up polish for me as its my favourite red from OPI. NOTD featured here. My bottle is over half gone and this can be a hard polish to get hold of.

Save Me and Pink Friday, both from the Nicki Minaj For OPI Collection.

Save me was a bit of an impulse buy as normally I'm not a fan of bar glitter. I prefer hex glitter as a rule. But when I saw this I just fell in love with it, its super pretty and really reflective. Fun in a bottle me thinks.

I picked up a full size Pink Friday as I fell in love with this colour after trying out the minis, check out my NOTD here.

Pink Friday Nicki Minaj for OPI

I LOVE this pink cream from OPI, its a beautiful colour and applies like a dream. I think this is going to be on my nails alot throughout the spring and summer. Its just so cheerful and pretty.

Of the collection this is by far my favourite colour.
