Whilst I was tidying my polishes (for a polish collection and storage post) I noticed just how similar Deborah Lippmann's Some Enchanting evening and Essie's Lux Effects A Cut Above are.
They are both clear polish bases with pink glitter in both small and larger flecks.
Have a look below and see what I mean.......
Some Enchanting Evening on the left and A Cut Above on the right.
Although they are pretty much 99% the same I can see some slight difference, Essie has more chunky glitter where as the Deborah Lippmann has more of the smaller glitter packed in, it almost looks softer...
I decided to do some swatches to see just how different or the same they are.
I have painted both polishes over a plain black cream, I have done one swatch with one coat and a second with 2 coats.
L To R
D.Lippmann 1 Coat
D.Lippmann 2 Coats
Essie 1 Coat
Essie 2 Coats
As you can see the Essie is more of a dense glitter and almost opaque with two coats. Some Enchanting Evening is definitely more subtle and softer. The Essie gives you more pow for your punch, lol.
Although You would be fine with either of these in your polish collection, I'm really happy with both. I love the way the Deborah Lippmann looks layered over polish, where as I will use the Essie as a opaque glitter for a dramatic look.
Hope that you have enjoyed this post...
What Dupes do you recommend?

I'm going to go with the Essie; one coat. But isn't it interesting how each one has its own 'personality'?
